Candle Holders

Candles have been used for centuries and are still in demand, though on a much smaller scale. Over the years the purpose of using a candle has undergone considerable change. A number of candle manufacturers claim to produce non-dripping candles but they may still drip. This can be quite a mess and one may have wax residue around the candle, which may at times be difficult to clean. Candleholders come to the rescue in these situations.

Candles are not always available in ready to use containers. It is important to place the candle upon a safe stand. For this purpose, candlesticks were made available years ago. These sticks are apt for mounting single candles. However, if people need to place numerous candles, a multiple carrier known as a candelabrum is used.

The use of chandeliers dates back to ancient times.

They were designed to mount many candles, which when lit, were raised and hung. Nowadays, these are powered by electricity and have built-in...

Tickle Your Senses With Yankee Candles!

How many of us remember as kids creating our own candles from our broken crayons?
We'd have mom or dad help us melt down the crayons on the stove, throwing in every color of the rainbow.
Then we'd carefully pour the melted wax into old cardboard milk cartons.
But, how many of us were able to turn the fun of creating candles at home into a profitable money-making business?
Well, Mike Kittredge, founder of Yankee Candles did just that!
In 1969, when he was 16 years old, Mike melted down his old crayons to make his mom a candle for Christmas.
His neighbor liked it so well, that she bought it from him.
He then had enough money to buy wax to make both a candle for his mom and one to sell.

This was the beginning of a bright future for Yankee Candles.Today, Yankee Candles are the #1 selling brand in the United States.
The "Housewarmers" are Yankee Candles most popular candle.
They vary in size from votives...

Candles Are a Major Cause of House Fires

(ContentDesk) November 30, 2005 -- With the holidays fast approaching, people bring out all the old holiday decorations and purchase new ones.
Some of those new decorations will be candles.
Christmas without candles is like an ice cream cone without the ice cream.
The National Fire Protection Association (http://www.mfpa.org) report candles are the 4th leading cause of house fires.
With this in mind, it is important to review basic candle safety. When purchasing candles, make sure they are good quality candles that will burn evenly.

Candles that burn evenly will maintain an even flame, and hot wax will pool into the candle, not run onto items around the candle.
Uneven burning candles can spill wax or cause the wick to shift. When placing candles in decorations, set the candles in
fire retardant holders designed for candles. When placing candles in wreaths or other natural decorations,...

Getting The Most From Your Candles

I love burning candles and have them all around the house. Long ones, short ones, fat ones, thin ones, in a plethora of colours. I burn them in the evening when I'm relaxing; I burn them at mealtimes; and I burn them in the bathroom when I'm pampering myself. Any excuse to light a candle really. But candles don't always fit the holder, and sometimes they burn down too far and the wax gets stuck! It's at times like this that candles aren't quite as much fun! Here are some candle burning tips I've picked up through the years:1.Cold candles will burn more slowly. Wrap them in foil or cling-film to prevent the wicks from absorbing moisture then pop them in the fridge for an hour.2.When burning pillar candles, let them burn long enough each time to create a pool of wax that almost covers the diameter of the candle.

This will ensure that the candle burns evenly each time you light it. If it doesn't create a large enough pool you'll end up with a tunnel through the candle and eventually...

We have so much influence over the next generation!
